Andrew MillsThomas is the co-founder and Creative Director at Big Deal Films, driving their eclectic slate of multi genre projects with a commitment to inclusive storytelling. He is a ‘MipTV Producer to Watch’ and the executive producer of International Emmy nominated and Bafta winning DREAMING WHILST BLACK (BBC3) and the RTS nominated HOLIER THAN THOU (UKTV). As a writer, he has been nominated for the Edinburgh New Voices, Debut Writer award for COCONUT (BBC3) and has scripts under commission with BBC Drama (Chameleon/ 8x60) and Create Central (Special Relationship/ 1x90) amongst others. His debut BBC Radio 4 drama, THE COMET is scheduled for 2027. He has also headed up productions that have been honoured for their commitment to authentic diversity at the National Diversity Awards, the Diversify Excellence in Representation of Race and Ethnicity award and Media Moment of the Year at the Ethnicity Awards. A lifelong North Londoner of mixed Trinidadian and British heritage, Thomas’s work is defined by a bold, unfiltered lens on lives at the margins. Blending social realism with high-concepts, he crafts cutting-edge stories that interrogate identity, culture and power with urgency, authenticity and a truly contemporary voice.
