Stephen was born in Huddersfield and brought up in Middlesbrough where he studied English Literature at Teesside University, graduating in 2002. During his final year of study he decided he wanted to pursue a career in the Arts and upon successful auditions he accepted a place and trained at The ArtsEducational School in London, graduating in 2005. After many successful years of working as an Actor (THE HISTORY BOYS - National Theatre, MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE - Duchess Theatre. HOLLYOAKS - CH4. TWIST - Sky Movies & most recently played the lead opposite Nina Wadia in KAUR which is now available to watch on ITVx) He decided he wanted to put pen to paper. Stephen’s first success as a writer came in the form of short film ABE which he wrote and produced. The film went on to win the TRIFORCE film festival at a special event and screening in the BAFTA building. The film was acquired by SHORTS INTERNATIONAL and is available to watch on APPLE TV, GOOGLE PLAY & AMAZON. Stephen has written two more shorts, BEYOND THERAPY & CELLAR which he will also direct. More recently Stephen has written a Drama series, PROPER CLASS (based on his life and experiences growing up in the late 80’s, Middlesbrough - The Asian Shameless) which has been optioned by SHARP HOUSE and is currently in development. The pitch deck and pilot episode for PROPER CLASS can be made available upon request. Although Stephen is a relative newcomer, his writing has shown incredible diversity across multiple genres. PROPER CLASS marks Stephen’s professional debut and is only the beginning for this exciting new talent.
